Delay

Outputs its input as it was a set number of seconds ago.

Parameters

NameTypeDescription
ValueoutputFloatThe input as it was the delay time ago.
InputFloatThe value to delay.
DelayFloatHow many seconds the output runs behind the input.

Delay plays its input back late. Whatever the input does, the output does the same thing the delay time later. A movement on the input comes out again as an echo. The output is read between frames, so it moves as smoothly as the input did.

Before the delay time has passed the first time, the output holds the oldest value it has. The operator only remembers as far back as the delay time, so making the delay longer while it runs cannot bring back values that were already forgotten. The output then uses the oldest value it still has until enough new time has passed.

Several delays in a row with the same input give a trail of copies that follow each other, which works well for moving several objects along the same path with a spacing in time.
